Rescue

RESCUE is a skill which, when practiced, allows you to intervene in a battle by redirecting any opponents' attacks from the target character onto yourself. This can be used to help a badly hurt group member who is being attacked, but be careful, since you'll end up taking all the subsequent damage yourself. Typing RESCUE with no target will rescue your current monitor target. Each time you must refocus your attention to rescue a friend, your momentary loss of concentration has an unpleasant affect upon your armor class. Be warned, you would-be heroes. These penalties add up quickly.
